¡Qué me dices! Conversación y cultura en tu mundo
Montserrat Mir, Illinois State University
Ángela Bailey de las Heras, Illinois State University
¡Qué me dices! is all about conversation.
One of the only task-based programs that can be used in an array of intermediate and post-intermediate Spanish conversation courses, ¡Qué me dices! activities are group-oriented, so learners are compelled to use Spanish for communicative purposes within the realms of realistic conversations.
Supports the following courses:
- Post-Intermediate
- Conversation
A CLOSER LOOK
- A motivating, task-oriented approach. Activities are designed to accomplish a concrete informational goal attainable only through the exchange of information and ideas among class participants.
- Learners choose content that interests them. Chapter themes are broadly presented and offer individual, concrete research activities. In this way, learners move beyond the confines of the text, and discover contemporary texts and models (e.g., texts online). Materials for discussion are intended to always align with current events and learners’ interests.
- Final take: A video project for real-world Spanish communication. Each chapter includes a cumulative final oral assessment where students create a video—individually or in pairs—in which they speak spontaneously about a topic of their choice that connects to the chapter’s theme and language function. This project encourages authentic communication, reinforces learning, and promotes creativity, confidence, and real-world language use.
